To accommodate a broad range of equipment the layout has three mainlines – one is designed for scale wheelsets, while the other two can handle hi-rail wheelsets and American Flyer rolling stock. There are passing sidings so additional trains can be staged, and a custom module off one corner of the layout will allow future expansion onto a branch line. Our wheeled command station can feed several different power supply configurations depending on what the specific locomotives require.
The club owns a 10’ x 14’ trailer that we’ve customized to hold the layout and all its accessories. A key aid to the transportation and storage of everything is the construction of four wheeled carts, each of which holds four sections of the layout. On the top decks of the carts is room for tubs containing the structures, vehicles and figures that are part of the display.
